Catalogue and albums question
I'm thinking about giving On1 another chance after skipping 2 versions. One deciding factor is its backup capabilities. If I create a catalogue and several albums. Will the catalogue including albums still be there if I have to reinstall the software?
I have an extensive folder system in Lightroom and despite its many downsides, I have been able to keep this system in Lightroom for years.
I don't need or want the On1 Sync function btw.

The new Backup & Restore feature does save all the program's database files. That includes your Albums and Catalogs.
Photo RAW works with your existing file structure. You don't have to change anything. That's one of the major differences between PR and Lr. PR allows you to browse your file system and edit the photos wherever they live. In Lr, as you know, you have to import the photos into its Library before you can work on them and if something gets moved to a new location outside of Lr you have to repoint the library to the photo's new home.
The Catalogs that you can build with PR work similar to a Lr Library in that it allows you to search them to find photos where without them you can only search in the folder you are currently browsing.
You might want to check out Catalogs and Caches - ON1 Photo RAW 2022 & ON1 PHOTO RAW 2021. It should answer most of your questions.
