Add a third map view for 'Outdoors'
PhotoRAW's Map view only provides Street and Satellite views. But many photographers like me do not take pictures only on roads, but also when hiking in the landscape. Therefore maps like OSM, where also hiking trails are visible, would be helpful.
PhotoRaw uses MapBox for the map views and fortunately such a view is possible there with the 'outdoors' style. But PhotoRaw doesn't use this style. So far - because you can easily add this style. I will describe the simple steps for Windows, perhaps Brian can adapt this for MAC.
As the HTML-code for these new map view is too long to be shown in this forum, I have placed it in a hidden folder on my mathematical website, from where you can download it:
https://www.magic-squares.info/pr/outdoors.zip
Now proceed with the following three steps:
1) make a backup of the HTML-file 'MapViewMain.html' found in path 'C:\ProgramData\ON1\ON1 Photo RAW 2022\WebContent\MapView'
(the first subfolder is hidden and you may be called for admin rights).
2) unzip the file 'outdoors.zip', which contains only 'MapViewMain.html'
3) copy my changed version of 'MapViewMain.html' into the folder above
Then start PhotoRaw and try the 'outdoors' map view. Please write a comment, if this works for you or not.

As you are code fellow, I'll be so grateful if you should add "display map for all the photos from a folder" ;-)))
I'm bored ON1 team never improve this basic feature you can enjoy on 80% of the photo softwares I've tested.

Thanks Holger. I'm looking through your changes right now.
On the Mac side of things there are 2 html files, one specifically for Mac. Apparently there are some timing issues with the API that it accounts for. I need to do a compare with it against the Windows version to see if there are any other mods.
I will add your changes to the Mac side and do some testing then post a new zip for it.

That isn't something that can be done with a simple HTML change Subias. The web page doesn't have access to that information. It requires code changes to the Photo RAW program to call the proper MapBox libraries and MapBox may not have provided that ability.

Simply works! Thanks for this one.

Also adding the GPS via the map works. I'm using Windows 10.

Thanks! I offered this ON1, but they were not interested.

The javascript code differences between the Mac and Windows html files are more extensive than I first thought and I'm not sure my javascript skills are up to reconciling the differences between the 3 files I'm looking at.
Subias, would you be willing to take a look at the Mac version?

To whom did you offer it? I can get around tech support. 😉

@Brian: I have adapted the HTML file for Mac, but I can't test it. Is it like your version?
https://www.magic-squares.info/pr/outdoors-mac.zip
Your question: Some weeks or months ago I opened a ticket for this and it got status 'solved'. But it didn't find its way into PR 2022.
So I wrote today that I have changed the HTML file to add the 'outdoor' view . But they only replied that I can publish it in this forum if I want.

The link is not working. Did you start with the MapViewMainMac.html file? It is significantly different than the Windows version.

Okay, there was an unvisible space in this link. Take this one
https://www.magic-squares.info/pr/outdoors-mac.zip

... and I took the MapViewMainMac.html file, which is found with the windows installer.

That works great, thanks again Holger.

What do you mean: the download or the outdoors map view for Mac?
0 -
I'm just going to throw this out there, you know because…
DON'T FORGET TO MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF THE MAPVIEW FOLDER BEFORE YOU START.
Also, any future updates will most likely overwrite these changes so keep copies to put back in place after an update.

Both the download and the map view. Great job.

Thanks, I've replaced the file and everything works fine.

If you have changed the file 'MapViewMain.html' (or not), you can also make another change for the default location of map view. When you have a photo without GPS info, map view will always show Portland, Oregon. To change this, look for the two lines
center: [-122.74753, 45.409199],
and change this to the default location, which you prefer:
center: [longitude, latitude],
That's all.

Thanks Holger
The instruction on how to change the default from Portland is especially useful as I live in the UK and are unlikely to visit the USA anytime soon0 -
Thank you all for the time and effort to make this available.
I hope that one day the developers are able to spend some time with the map module and add some feature.

Wow, thank you so much for this!

Hello, for testing it, I used PR 2021 and last link for Mac, but no map is displayed, only a white blank window; if I keep the original MapViewMain.html and MaViewMainMac.html, only the map from ON1 displays it, but no option to "outdoor". What's wrong from me ? Because I used 2021 instead of 2022 ?

Yes, my extension for a Mac only works with PR 2022. But be careful, already the original version from On1 is buggy, although my extension works.
For Windows, it should work wit PR 2021 and 2022, although I couldn't test it with 2021 any more.

Thanks, I'll try later with PR 2022.

I've just tried the Mac version with RAW 2022 and although the 'outdoors' option shows, there is no change to the map. If 'street' is showing, it stays as 'street' and if 'satellite' is showing it stays as 'satellite' even when' outdoors' is selected.
I've tried it with the original MapViewMain.html as well as the newer version provided by Holger at the beginning of this thread and get the same results described above.

Have you quit and relaunched Photo RAW? I saw the same thing when I made the change. Relaunching the program fixed it for me.

Just tried relaunching but still getting the same result as before. Which version of MapViewMain.html are you using Brian?

I'm on a Mac so I'm using MapViewMainMac.html but I have both of them installed.

Did you really use the MAC version of my file?

I think that you use the wrong (Windows) version of my file.

No I haven’t used the Windows version. I’ve installed the Mac version. Like Brian I have both installed.
