Color of my dng files are completely messed up
hi
After installing the new version 16.1.0.11631 to my pc I wanted to edit my dng pictures. But all of the colors of my DNG files are no more correct. As below I added an example. The first is the good one, the second is the one i see in PR. Even when I export the Picture, the colors are a messed up. Someone know the problem or know how to fix it? txs

I would suggest that you open a support ticket. Attach these examples to it and send it in to On1 tech support.

rick, would love it if you can try my dng file at your pc, but i don't know how to get the file to you

You can upload it to a file sharing site like Dropbox or WeTransfer, etc, then post the download link here.

I cannot decompress the zip file. I've downloaded it multiple times and tried multiple utilities to unzip it and they all return the same error message about an unsupported compression format.

brian, please try again

That worked, thanks. Let me take a look.

That definitely needs to go to support. I'm seeing the same as you. Bridge is previewing it correctly and Topaz programs open it with the correct color.

ah, i'm happy that it is not my pc. i already send it to the support. so wait and see if they can fix it :)

Agreed, this is what I get too.

I am seeing the same problem but it does seem to be image specific. I have just gone through looking at DNGs in my catalogued folders. All displaying correctly in Browse and odd ones that I have opened have the right colours. Produced in a whole range of different ways or provided as sample images for courses.

Just tried opening this image in DXO Photolab 4 and it couldn't open it saying it was corrupt or in unknown format, other of my DNGs opened ok.
Have you got an earlier backup copy of this file, I am wondering if something has corrupted it in some way that some applications can't handle.

I've opened both of them in Photo RAW. The only difference I can see is that the darker, slower to open photo has a lot more small detail in it. I wonder if that could affect the speed of the demosaic algorithm making it slower.

hi david,
these dng's i could open very well in the former version of PR. also in luminar and Affinity there are no problems. as the support wrote today they don't have an immediate fix and i have to wait. in honeyview and xnview MP they are OK too. even in the latest NoNoise AI it opens OK. so i expect "The Ultimate Photo Editor" to open them too. i'm sure that they will do their best to fix this problem and so i'll wait and see
txs a lot for help

I am also seeing the same problem but with at least 100 photos (22.1), when I install the previous version (22.01) I only get 10, when I install 2021 version I get no problems. So something has happened to coding which has made matters worse with each newer version. I have sent samples to them as of yet no response.

It's not mentioned what OS the users having the problems are running. Microsoft has confirmed a problem in Windows 11 that causes some color rendering problems. The explanation from MS is rather vague, indicating that it happens with "some image programs". Some reports says that it's specific to certain HD monitors, but others imply that it's more widespread.
Here's a link to one article about this issue:

Art is Right on YouTube has videos about using HDR monitors for photo editing.

Hi carl, brian
Ok some adjustments, my operating system is windows 11, my monitor is a dell U2515H which I think it is not a HDR monitor. I mentioned that in luminar, Affinity, honeyview, xnview MP and Microsoft Photo all is working fine under win 11. When I’m working with PR 2022 (16.0.1.11212) on windows 11 everything shows up fine.exept on the latest PR (16.1.0.11631) none of my DNG’s are showing correctly. So, I assume it’s a PR problem but as I am not a programmer or any guru, so I am never a 100% sure of it.
But txs anyway to have a look at it.

what i see is that when i open the library all the pictures are OK, but once opened in the "edit photo" window the colors mess up.

I have the same issue. All my dng's have a pretty horrific colour shift. All other files look OK.
Some info that might be useful:
- On an M1 Mac mini with macOS Monterey 12.0.1 and ON1 Photo RAW 2022.
- My dng files were originally NEF files that I converted with Lightroom years ago using the conversion on import.
- All dng files look fine in Finder and Quick Look. They open fine in Preview and Pixelmator Pro. Only ON1 seems to have problems with them.
I'll submit a ticket now.

If you didn't keep the installer for the previous version you'll have to ask tech support for a download link.

You will different versions here
Knowledge Base ... Downloadsd & Resources ... Product Downloads for ON1 Owners

Those links are only for the most current version of each program.

It has been 2 months and the company has not yet released another update. You can click on your name/avatar at the top right of this page then go to the My Activities link to see all the reports you sent to support. Find the one where you reported this problem and ask them if they are making any progress.
