Eraser and stamping tool does not work in 2022.1Answered
I tried to erase some disturbing elements after cropping an image. The brush shows the change but after moving the brush the erased area is simply white. See picture below.
Under the circle is another small area I want to get rid of. Moving the brush away after clicking the mouse button turns the area into white. Similar to the white area which I tried to remove before.
the same applies with the perfect eraser. Hopefully I can rewert back to the old version until this is solved.
Which tool are you using and how do you have its options set in the options bar at the top of the screen?0
Removing objects from the cropped edges can be tricky because some tools will pull from the portion of the image that has been cropped out. That's why I asked about the tool and options you are using.0
I know it's sometimes tricky. Normally black area occurs if you don't pick up the color carefully. In this case there is no white where I pick the color from. Interesting is, that exactly the area to be masked becomes white. It seems the color is simply not inserted to the mask.0
Are those white areas remnants from another retouching tool, perhaps the Healing Brush? The Healing Brush's affects get applied last and will overlay all the other retouching tools which means those areas cannot be retouched again. If this is the case you have to adjust the Healing Brush's source and target areas to prevent the spot from becoming visible in the first place.
Alternatively, you can Duplicate the Layer then Merge the two together so the Healing Brush's work gets baked into the merged Layer. Then you can use other retouching tools to clean it up. Of course the downside is the creation of an .onphoto file because of the Layers.0
I found my mistake. I was trying to erase a portion from the image after setting up some masking. The masks seem to change the behaviour of the erasor, or stamping tool so to say. I change the working steps and did the crop and the refinement before masking. This way it works as usual. So again learnt something to keep in mind for future. :)0
Thanks Brian, so we finally came to the same conclusion. Have a nice holyday and a happy new year
Cool, glad you got it figured out.0
