Unable to delete

I have never encountered this before. I cannot delete any of the superfluous images in this folder.

Your screenshots are too low res to allow the text to be read. What does it say?

Sorry, the screenshots as taken cannot be uploaded to the forum so I always have to reduce them in size in Preview. I have never been sure what to take them down to.

It says "A folder or folder is currently busy. Try again."

It's better, now I can read them in the email message I get. There's a better solution. I use a free program called TinkerTool which allows you to customize a lot of the OS features. One of them is the file type created by Apple's Screenshot program. The default type is png which this site (and others) doesn't like. I've changed it to JPEG for better compatibility. TT is pretty powerful so be sure you know what you are changing and why before you do anything with it. Changing the screenshot file type is safe. You can learn a lot about the system just by looking at things without making any changes too.
That error message means the the OS thinks that file is being used by some other program so it won't let it be deleted. You can't delete an open file. I can see you don't have any other programs open so it isn't you. There have been bugs in the past where the OS wouldn't recognize when certain programs were finished with a file. Restarting the computer will clear that up. If a restart doesn't fix it, we'll have to dig deeper.

The restart didn't fix it. The photos on my external drive to exhibit this issue. This folder had been backed up to an external HD and opening it on that drive DID exhibit the issue. I don't know if the cloud backups I have would.
The HD backups were done by Carbon Copy Cloner. I have never had an issue with it doing this before.

That sounds like a permissions issue on the drive you cannot delete from. What does the Get Info for that drive look like?

Have reset using TT.
No idea why my own name doesn't appear on my internal SSD! And who is 'wheel'?

Edit: Your name will only appear on other drives. You don't own Macintosh HD, the OS does. It is part of the MacOS security system. You only own pieces of it. What does Get Info on your Pictures folder look like? Do you have Read & Write permissions there?
Wheel is the part of the OS that needs to access your drives. It is a Unix level user. There are many different users that come with the OS for managing different OS activities.
The next thing we need to look at are your Security and Privacy settings in System Preferences. What do you see in the Privacy > Files and Folders section?

PR 2022 does not appear in Files and Folders. It does appear and is ticked in Full Disk Access.

Add it to Files and Folders by unlocking the panel then clicking the + button. You'll be presented with an file selection dialog, go to ON1's program folder and select the program. I don't know if it will turn on all those options, turn them on if it does not.
I don't have an entry in Full Disk Access for any of my ON1 programs so I have to assume that isn't needed. You can leave it if you prefer.

It has made no difference! I still can't delete (and Full Disk Access is the same as when one checks all the boxes in Files and Folders)

I copied the folder to the external drive and also copied all the files into a new folder on the desktop. To no avail.

Do you own the files you cannot delete? How did you get them onto the new system? What are the permissions in the Get Info for your Pictures folder?

I am beginning to think it might relate to Carbon Copy Cloner! All 4 folders currently in my Pictures folder were restored from a _CCC Safety Net Folder on my Backup drive. When I access them on that drive the same problem occurs. But it doesn't occur with folders that are higher up the hierarchy in the first level for backing up.
I also have the folders backed up to my iDrive account. I downloaded one of them and delete works there. If you don't have any further answers, I will probably raise it with Support at CCC. In the past they have been very responsive.

You should not and absolutely do not want to mess with the contents of a Snapshot. Those things are extremely complex and any given file may not be entirely in that snapshot. Any given snapshot might contain just the most recently changed portion of a file and the rest is tied in with links. The only thing you should be doing with them is restoring from them.
The problem is not with Photo RAW or with CCC. It has to do with how your photos were copied to the new computer. Remember when I was talking about migrating and I told you that the username isn't the important factor but the owner's ID for that user is what counts? It looks like that got in your way somehow. You do not own your Pictures folder and have only Read permissions for it. You cannot make any changes to it or its contents even in the Finder because it isn't yours.
What you need to do is make yourself the owner with Read & Write permissions. In the Pictures folder's Get Info panel, click the lock so you can make changes. Next, click the + button and add your user account to the list and give yourself Read & Write permissions. Now click the circle with the 3 dots and choose the command to make yourself the folder's owner. Finally, in that same menu, use the Apply to enclosed items… command.
That should restore your ownership and give you permissions to read and write to your Pictures folder and all its contents.
