Can you show me a screen shot of your Advanced Search window with the results it returned please?

What do you see in the Keyword List?

I've attached screenshots of the Advanced Search window and also ones from the same pic in Raw 2021 and Raw 2022 showing the keywords present and missing.  The Advanced Search only revealed 48 pics in Raw 2022 whereas it revealed 243 in Raw 2021.  The new version does not appear to be using data the side car files.

I'm not sure what the 2nd photo is supposed to illustrate but it does not have Christmas for a keyword which is what your first screenshot shows you are searching for.

I need to see the entire screen for that 1st pictures please. I need to see what was returned along with the search panel settings. The same screenshot from both versions would be best. I need to see what you are seeing, not just portions of it please.

Here is the full screenshot for Raw 2022.  I think these photos show up because I was keywording new photos and doing some older ones that I thought I had missed, only to realize that none that I know have been keyworded show them.

You're still clipping important information. You know you can press command-shift-3 and get a screenshot of your entire monitor's display, right? Control-command-shift-3 will put it in your clipboard where it can be pasted here.

What I'm not seeing in the 2021 shot is how many photos were returned.

Your searches are different. In 2022's Advanced Search panel you are specifically searching for photos where the keyword Christmas has been applied. In your 2021 search you are not limiting the search to just Keywords.

What happens if you change the 2022 search parameters so it is searches Everything not just Keywords.

What happens when you just type Christmas into the Filter Text field at the bottom of the screen?

How many photos get returned from each of those 2 searches?

Interesting, I thought I was doing the same search.  When I use your instructions in Raw 2021, I get the same photos.  Here's Raw 2022.  Control-command-shift-3 generates a screenshot that exceeds the 2 mb limit.  I had to convert it to a jpeg (>2 mb) file with Preview.

Here's Raw 2021 with the same search.  Similar number of results but not exactly the same.

The screenshot size is because Apple switched from jpegs to pngs. I use a free tool called TinkerTool to reset that preference to jpeg.

Since 2022 is returning more items (58) than 2021 (45) we know that the search is in fact working and searching through all the metadata as it should. When we started, 2022 wasn't finding all that 2021 found so we've made progress. It's all a matter of setting up the search properly.

Why 2022 is returning more photos than 2021 I don't know. You'll have to compare the results from each search to find which photos 22 is returning that 21 is not then look at the metadata for those photos that 22 found to see what's different about it.

Ok, perhaps I have been doing searches incorrectly so that may explain what's going on with my results.  However, in doing this I found some odd behavior with keywords in general.  Using both Raw 2022 and 2021, I accessed a group of files that I know have been heavily keyworded.  For DSC_1141, note how Raw 2021 has keywords and a star rating, but Raw 2022 has neither.  Raw 2022 doesn't even show all of the files.

If you're referring to the missing description under the photos, in 2022 right click any image and select the view options at the top...

You'll get a window like this to choose what gets displayed.

These are described on page 22 of the 2022.1 user guide.

You're going to have to talk with tech support about why 2021 is showing star ratings that 2022 is not. I would include the link to this topic for them to review what we've discussed and so they can see the screenshots you've posted.

Will do.  Thank you for trying to troubleshoot this problem and providing additional info about using the searching capabilities.
