I imported from my camera to a subfolder on my hard drive. But I wanted the files to be on my photo external drive. I dragged the folder over to it and could see all the files there and everything turned up in thumbnail view. When I clicked on a file, I could see it in Browse, but when I clicked Edit I saw an outline of a square with a silhouette and a diagonal line through it.
What have I done wrong?

Probably nothing. Does it work if you restart the computer and the program? It could be one of those annoying glitches that seem to just happen from time to time.
If restarting doesn't work, I would trash that folder and reimport either through the program directly to your external photos drive or with the Finder.

Neither restarting nor moving through Finder worked. Only reimporting.
Next time I'll be more careful on importing from my camera.
