Fully agree. Send this to support as I did and add it to ON1 RAW Project. Hopefully product management listens.

Not sure if this is a workaround, or by design, but just discovered that if you open one of the images in the selection, you can then dismiss the dialog and the selection remains intact. Does sort of make sense. This I can work with.

That is by design. When I find the photo I want to edit from the results returned by the search, I right-click and choose the Reveal in Folders command. That takes me to the enclosing folder and dismisses the Search panel at the same time.

    Great answers

As I said in an earlier post On1 are waiting for feedback on whether or not to change the operation of the new advanced search before making any changes. They said that current feedback is that some people want things one way and others the reverse.

I see the release notes say that they have fixed the bug where reopening a minimised search box came up with different search parameters than it had when it was minimised. I am not sure that I would consider removing the ability to minimise in the first place is actually fixing the problem!

David on Windows 10 we don't appear to have a means to minimise the search box, only option is to drag it out of the way

The Windows apparently never had the ability to be minimized, only the Mac version did that. Now it doesn't have it either.

Yeah and the inability to minimize the window is pain in the neck if you want to select several photos to add to an album. You have to drag the search window around or resize the main window so you can drag the search box off to the side. As David Tillet suggests I'll submit a support ticket.

I just drag it over to the left hand column with most of it off the screen. It doesn't cover any of my thumbnails from there.

With the latest build 1675 at least double clicking a keywords immediately opens the search results. Moving the search window out of the thumbnails area is acceptable. However I would prefer that when I close the search window the search result remains visible.

I keep an Album named ~ so it goes to the top of the list for my personal scratch space. Select All, drag to ~, select the album and I'm in business. I don't loose access to the photo when I remove the keyword that allowed me to find it in the first place so I can Embed Metadata before removing it from the album when I'm ready or do whatever else may be needed first.

Brian I do that but in order to make it fit there I have to make the side panel larger which reduces my thumbnail sizes. The smaller thumbnails are problematic if I am reviewing the photos with someone to select favorites to move to an album. It would be better if On1 would make it possible to minimize / close the search window without losing search results.

It isn't necessary to have the left side column visible. You can still move the window out of the way.

I agree it would be better if we could just move it behind the Browser window and get it out of the way entirely. I'm just offering my workarounds. Using the scratch space Album works quite well and is the functional equivalent of closing the search window while retaining its results.

The difference between using a Smart Album and using a temporary album is when you are working with metadata, in particular the keywords.

If you remove the keyword the search used to find the photo, the photo gets removed from the album and you may not know where to find it again if there is more work to be done on it. In particular, if you like to Embed Metadata changes, you cannot embed the removal of the keyword.

I'm not trying to shoot down your idea; I use Smart Albums as well. I'm just pointing out the pros and cons of each method for other readers.
