Portrait AI won't export layers. Also is there a history brush?

Are you using the Portrait AI stand-alone/plug-in program or the Portrait AI module in Photo RAW? If it is the plug-in it does not have the ability to create new Layers.

All ON1 programs have a history that can be undone via the History panel or with Command/Control-Z. This history lasts only as long as the current editing session. When you finish editing an image the history is erased.

I can't speak to changes in the program since whatever version you last used. You can look in the Release Notes for the various versions to see what the company has told us about what has changed.

Page 10 of the user guide talks about maintaining layers, but as we don't know what you're calling Portrait from, can't say if this helps or not.

I'm using the stand alone program. It doesn't export separate layers regardless of what export option is selected.

It's not an export option, it's for transferring TO On1. And since you still haven't said what program you're sending from all we can do is guess at what you're doing.

What do you mean? I said I'm using the stand alone program Portrait AI.

I edited a photo and now want to export to .PSD so I can take it into photoshop and refine.

But when I do that it flattens the image to one single layer so no modifications can be made.

If multiple layer .PSD's aren't possible this program is useless to me and I need a refund.

3-4 years ago this was not an issue in the program. I did it all the time. If I recall it was the default option.

Multiple Layers have never been possible in this program. 3-4 years ago Portrait AI did not exist. It wasn't released until Sept 20, 2020. I don't know what you were doing but it wasn't with Portrait AI. You might have been using the Portrait AI module in the Photo RAW program which does support Layers.

Portrait AI comes with a Photoshop Plug-in. If you wan't layers to work with you can create them in Photoshop then call Portrait AI via the plug-in on that layer.

I highly suggest that you download and at least browse through the User Guide. Better yet, read it.

If you still want a refund after learning how the program works, you'll need to contact Customer Service to request that. No one here can help with refunds. We are just other users like yourself. You can contact them via the Submit a request links at the top and bottom of this page.
