Usefullness of Sky Swap when using NoNoise AI
Hi,
Will there be an update to NoNoise AI in PhotoRaw that will denoise all layers? At least, an update that would denoise swapped skies with the foreground?
Presently, it seems that using Sky swap produces images with two levels of noise reduction (sky and foreground). It is useless because if I want to produce an image with homogeneous noise reduction, I must use 2 layers (original photo + sky), each denoised on their own, then make the necessary masks. In other words, I must do exactly what I would be doing without Sky swap.
Am I right ?

If you need to denoise the swapped sky, then the only way to do it is as you describe. NoNoise only works on Layers, not filters.

Thanks,
I love NoNoise AI.
Too bad it doesn't work with Sky swap ! I cannot produce images with 2 levels of noise reduction.
What I will likely do is to denoise the sky files and reimport them for sky swap.

There is a work around if you're interested.
Open your image and replace the sky. Don't do any other editing yet.
Go back to Browse and Export as a TIFF or PNG to the same folder. Once done, continue your work and run NoNoise with the new image.
The drawback is that NoNoise won't be working on your RAW image, but the sky isn't a RAW image anyway.
I have a preset in Export already set up to make this particular workflow very fast by selecting it from the File Menu in Browse.

I found that a lot of my own sky images were noisy. I have just spent a couple of days using NoNoise AI and dust spot removal on all of them, re-exporting them and adding them back into my skies for On1. I believe that only JPGs can be used.

You can import any supported file type, but they will be converted to JPG during import.

Thank you Ray and Rick for these comments. The raw vs jpg/tiff is the source of the dilemna. As you say Rick, we can only denoise the whole image consistently if we export and apply NoNoise AI afterwards.
Interesting issue and discussion !

My workaround isn't far different - After I sky swap on my image, duplicate layer, create a new stamped layer and return to Browse. Reopen in Edit and I'm able to use NoNoise on that stamped layer.
