Are you saying that you can't see them or that they all reset to no stars?

    A screenshot would help.

All reset to no stars Rick. The image appears to register the rating but it then resets to no stars within seconds.

Screenshot probably wouldn't help as it would just show an image with no stars.

I’ve seen this happen with other metadata where I would make a change and it would revert back to the original value immediately. I was able to get past it by deleting the associated .xmp sidecar file.

OK and glad it's not just me - frustrating though and not particularly useful! However, if I deleted the associated sidecar I would also lose all of the edits?

Not by deleting the .xmp. The edits are saved in the .ON1 sidecar.

Great advice, thanks Brian and I'll give this a go. Also have a support request in so will publish any advice from them on here as well.

I’ve been working with the engineers on the program’s problem with losing edits and metadata. They gave me an update last week that fixes a bug they said was related so hopefully the next release will take care of problems like this.

I’m sure it isn’t related but a couple of days later my 54 week old M1 mini turned itself off and refused to power back on again. It’s in the shop which is why I’ve not been here much lately. 😉

Deleting the .xmp worked for me, thanks Brian. Good to know it's being addressed with ON1 and fingers crossed for the next update.

Issue still there and yes resolved each time by deleting individual .xmp files.

Any update on when this will be fixed Brian?

Hopefully in next month's .5 update. I haven't had any problems since I've been running the "fixed" version the engineers gave me a couple of months ago.

Ok, fingers crossed for .5 then! Thanks Brian.

Issue now diagnosed and fixed by ON1 Support.

For others with the same problem, turns out it was a file conflict for a photo catalogue that was stored and permanently syncing on OneDrive for Mac. Fix is to pause the syncing before working on the catalogue, everything saves ok and then reinstate syncing when edits complete and ON1 session finished.

Issues with OneDrive are known and being fixed.
