How to See Colour values as HSL?
Hi all,
When looking at the Levels panel, I can see the RGB values displayed as I move the mouse around. Is there a way to change the displayed values to HSL? If not, is there a filter with a dropper that can I use as a work-around? Ideally I'd like to adjust the Levels window so that I can define the Clipping points...based on HSL settings.
I'm working with a printer who has suggested I keep my luminance values between 6-248 in order to prevent printing all Black or All white since the specific printer setup cannot represent those end case levels.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Photo RAW works only in RGB. If you are a Mac user you can use the Digital Color Meter program to display colors under an eyedropper in which ever format you like. I’m sure there is something equivalent for Windows.
You can limit the luminance values in your image by adding a Curves Effect set to the Luminosity Blending Mode. Set the Black point a 6 and the White point to 248(? I use 252.) or whatever values are appropriate for your image. Just be sure that this Curves filter stays at the top of the Effects stack so other edits don’t push your ranges beyond the settings you want.

Thanks Brian :-)
Sounds like the curves filter will do what I need. I don't think I'd have ever figured out the Luminosity Blending selection on my own. I'm a noob when it comes to printing...but having fun learning. Will experiment with values for max luminance and see if I can tell the difference on the prints!
Cheers,
John
