If you make the strip too narrow, there won't be enough room for stars. Drag the top of the filmstrip up a bit to make more room. Note that only photos that actually have a rating will show the stars, if there is no rating like the center photo below, you won't see anything no matter how big you make it.

I tried what you suggested but that did not work. It seems that I have the maximum height. I gave one of my photos a star rating and it did not show up in the film strip. Do you have any other suggestions. Do I have to go somewhere in the program to have the stars show in the film strip? Looks forward to your suggestions

How are your Thumbnail View Options set? They must be set to Always or you'll only see them when you Mouse Over the thumbnail. This applies to the Filmstrip as well as the Browser's Thumbnail (Grid) view.

The Thumbnail View Options are found under the Browser's View menu.

It worked in the browser thumbnail but not in the filmstrip mode. Is there any other area I should check to try to get the stars in the filmstrip area? Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

That's it. That is the only place where we have an control over the display of the star ratings.

It could be  a preferences corruption issue. You can try Delete Settings. After that you'll have to talk with Tech Support.

Are you running your monitor in non-default resolution? In the back of my mind when someone else had a similar problem it turned out to be linked to having changed the monitor resolution.

Just done a test on my M1 iMac, if I set scaled resolution to 1600*900 or below then start ratings vanish.

I was doing some problem solving and when I had my files on my computer and opened ON1 2022.1 the filmstrip had the rating stars (that's the good new). When i attached my external drive that contains 90 percent of my files and open the filmstrip the rating stars where not there but was visible in the grid view (that's the bad news). Is there something I need setup using my external drive? Thanks

No, all drives should be treated equally regardless of being internal or external. All my photos are on a external drive and I see the star ratings in the Filmstrip for those photos that have a rating applied. If there isn't any star rating then you don't see the outlines of the empty stars any more.
