external drive not recognized

All of a sudden my WD external drive is not opening . It appears on my favorites list but won't open the files. The files are there because I can view them in the finder.

  Does it appear in the Browse panel? Can you access it from there?

  Have you tried Delete Settings yet? This is a good first step whenever the program starts misbehaving. If you have to contact Tech Support they will want you to do it before they start digging into the problem as well.
