Assuming your PC meets minimum specs, all I can suggest is to try the Delete settings option or RESET per this article. Since you've just installed it, I would suspect the problem is something on your PC rather than with Effects.

I'm only suggesting Reset since there is nothing to lose with a new install. Reset is usually a last resort option.

If a Reset doesn't fix the problem, you'll have to contact support.

I have now deleted the settings, although it took some attempts to finally open Effects 2022. When trying to open a file, the app crashes... but thanks for your tipp!

What about your video card and has it been configured with the latest drivers and to allow ON1 Effects to make use of it?

AMD Radeon R7 200 Series with 1GB memory. Maybe this one is too old???

The GPU runs OpenGL 4.6 and does not show "OpenGL error"

I would suspect your GPU. I just replaced my 2 gig card as it wouldn't run the new version of Photo Raw any more.

I'm talking about Effects 2022 and NOT Photo Raw...

Harold, your system does not have enough vram.

David, how much VRAM is needed for Effects 2022, do you know?

The specs call for a minimum of 512MB but I think they are very out of date. 2GB+ is recommended.

Thanks Brian. In my case that means buying a new PC...

Harald, if your PC is a desktop you could look at the possibility of a new discrete graphics card. 4gb units aren't super expensive and cheaper than a new pc. If you are running a laptop then yeah you are probably looking at a new machine.

Thanks David. Looks like I'll try what you suggested... (I hate throwing hardware away just because of one problem)

I hear you Harald. The reason I pointed you to 4GB vram cards is they generally don't require supplemental power to be plugged in and if your current power supply doesn't support another 6 or 8 pin power connection you would be looking at getting another power supply as well.

You may be able to find a supplier that will let you buy the card and return it if it doesn't fix the problem. Before the GPU shortage I always had that option, now with the shortage it may be harder to find but it's worth the time to ask.

David, Rick, thank you both for your hints. Let me try tomorrow...
