Does performance improve over time? (Mac M1)
I've cataloged my entire photo library (~16k RAW images sorted in folders of various sizes) and am experiencing severe performance issues inside the app.
As I use the app, it slows, then crawls up to the point where it will take up to 10 seconds for the app to recognize and react to a click. Then, I have to close, then force close a hanging dialog box that never goes away.
I'm running a M1 Pro with 16GB, and this library certainly didn't choke CaptureOne or Lightroom when I was trialing them. I'm hoping this is just the catalog getting it's feet and thumbnails being generated? Any thoughts?

While the Catalog(s) is/are being built there is a heavy load placed on the system as it reads and renders each and every photo file. Once the cataloging process has finished you should see pretty good performance on your M1. I'm running an M1 Mini and it works well for me.
Hovering the mouse pointer over the Catalog name will show you the progress made on finishing it.
