Selecting keyword on Import

I would like to select a keyword when importing but I can't figure out how it works.  I start to type a keyword and I get a drop down list but I can't scroll through the list.  I can't even select a   keyword that is displayed on the list.  If I try to select a keyword the software beeps at me like it is busy doing something.  

Any hints on how this works?  I am using an Wacom Intuos pen but it works fine with every other Photo Raw 2022.5 function so I don't think that could be a problem.

  The only way I can select from the displayed list is with the arrow keys. Unlike adding a Keyword once the photo has been imported you can't start typing a nested keyword. You must walk through the hierarchy. For instance, you cannot type Blackbird. What I do is type Birds, select that root keyword to get rid of everything in the list that is not a bird then I type  '< B' to further limit the list to just those birds starting with a B. After that I use the down arrow key to select the one I want.
