I am looking forward to this too. Hopeful that the new Tack Sharp AI will approach the sophistication of Topaz Sharpen AI!

I got an email for next upgrade, including discount as customer (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 !), price is about 190 $/€ !!! Other proposal is suscribe option: "Subscription is discounted to 187,26 € for the first year. Renews at 224,71 €."

I'm going crazy ! I left LR for no suscribe and license ON1 affordable, these guys are mad, they will lost many users as me if the prices are so high for registered users during 5 years... Usually updates where more or less 80-90 $€ / year.

Maybe I"m wrong, please tell me what is your opinion.

(I don't need any plugin as I don't use PS, LR etc)

Not able to comment as I haven't seen prices of any kind for 2023 yet.

I have had the offer too. Approx $149USD subscription for the first year. However, this is for what On1 calls its Everything Plus plan.

However, in the FAQs, it says:

As we get closer to the new release of Photo RAW, there will be opportunities to order just Photo RAW along with bonuses and extras. If you order the Everything Plus Plan now, you will receive all of our apps and plugins automatically, plus all future bonuses and extras that may be included with Photo RAW in the future (preset packs, textures, training, etc.).

Was coming here to say the same thing. I'm a Photo Raw standard user (no plugins or subscriptions) and got an email about an early bird offer but when I click the link it's just giving me offers for products I don't own (subscriptions and package+plugins) for a lot more money than the standard price even after discount.

Not really a great email to receive in the end as it's useless for me and anyone else who's only looking to upgrade their photo raw package.

As Ray noticed hidden in the FAQ section it mentions about upgrading the standard package but no details are currently available. So guess i'll just hang tight until On 1 provide more details.

Subias Gilles - you are not alone :D
Today I received this email. 186EUR for Upgrade. Not acceptable for me. By the way - if I understand it correctly from the comparison. In the future, you will only have 5 activations with the subscription model.

Robert, read the ENTIRE email. It tells you at the bottom that this offer is for everything ON1 produces — Photo RAW and each of the individual plug-ins and that there will be more offers later for just the Photo RAW program.

We have always had only 5 activations. This is not a change.

To be fair to Robert they really should have put the information about Photo RAW standard in the main body of the page along with the other packages details. It's currently in a collapsed element in the answer to a FAQ question at the bottom of the page currently so easy to miss.

They have after all chosen to send these emails about upgrade offers to customers of the standard package without offering an upgrade for the package they own.

    Brian,

maybe you have different mail than me. This is my email and under the links I just see the prices and that 5 activations are mentioned extra ONLY with subscription.

I haven't even seen it yet. My comment about the FAQs was in reference to what Ray mentioned and which you  referred in your response to Reck.

You're getting upset about nothing. This is what they always do. They've offered owners of Photo RAW only the opportunity to upgrade to everything the company makes. If the offer isn't for you, don't take it. If you don't need the plug-ins then you don't need the upgrade. Kick back and wait for them to send another offer as we get closer to release date that gives current owners a deal on the upgrade for just the PR program. They have to keep their cash flow going after all or there are no more upgrades for anyone.

Reck, do you mean this part?

"I want to upgrade to the next version of Photo RAW coming this fall, but I don't want any plugins, future products, ON1 Plus, ON1 Cloud Sync, or extra activations included with the Everything Plus Plan. What do I purchase?

As we get closer to the new release of Photo RAW, there will be opportunities to order just Photo RAW along with bonuses and extras. If you order the Everything Plus Plan now, you will receive all of our apps and plugins automatically, plus all future bonuses and extras that may be included with Photo RAW in the future (preset packs, textures, training, etc.)."

If so, I understand the mail even less. the comparison to subscription and standalone tells me - RAW standard and plug-ins for 186 EUR. So exactly what I have now.

Brian - you are right - I have overlooked in the 2nd column that the standalone programs are also available for the plug-ins.

The company makes things confusing things by using the terms 'upgrade' and 'update' interchangeably. To me we pay for Upgrades to the next major version; i.e.; 2022.x -> 2023.0. Updates (I don't normally capitalize updates to highlight the distinction) are always free; i.e.; 2023.0 -> 2023.1.

This (below) is especially confusing in light of what I just wrote since they use both terms at the same time.

When you subscribe you get both updates and Upgrades for free as long as you continue paying the subscription fee. You also get any new software the company releases; a new plug-in for example. Quit the subscription and your software stops working. The dreaded Adobe model we left them for. It isn't for everyone. For some it is a worthwhile option.

Everyone, subscribers and owners, get the updates for free.

    So what's the upgrade price?

It hasn’t been announced yet. They take it one step at a time.

    Great answers

Currently the non-subscription version of PhotoRAW is limited to 2 activations, so under subscription you get extra 3 activations.

    Sigh

On1 has always been consistent in how they market.

They offer a variety of options and have promised there will always be a perpetual license offer for the core editing program.

They have offered a subscription plan which includes  the plug-ins

They have offered a perpetual license for the core editing program and the plugs ins

The plus program (which I got this year and found surprisingly useful) has been an add-on

Nothing has changed- There is no evil intent that I can see

BTW, I left adobe when I felt they were unfair in dropping the perpetual license.

Just be a little bit patient. They do this every year, dripping info to "build excitement for the release"

If I read things correctly, its going to be a hell of a release.

Never mind the "Upgrade", how about fixing the bugs in 2022.5! It is a constant PITA where browse doesn't pick up applied edits, and in order to export you have to first make an edit in order to (re)create a valid .ON1. I hope there will be a bug-fix update before releasing the new version. I just wonder what new bugs will then get released.

I purchased the onOne Everything Plus. So all I got was a link to 2022.5 and the plugins from 2022! What do I get for the discounted price? A subscription from llate September or October through August 2023? Wow. Some deal!

2023 has not yet been released. You pre-paid for it and got all the 2022 plug-ins and Photo RAW program to use in the meantime. That is what the offer was all about. You got what you paid for and you will get 2023 version of those programs once they have been finished in development and are publicly released.

If you are unhappy that you didn't understand what you purchased you have the option of asking for your money back. Contact Customer Service via the Submit a request link at the top and bottom of this page.

Gerry. I am not sure what the two bugs are that you are talking about. The fact that edits can sometimes get lost is definitely something that's known about and there is a work-round (and you can also restore from a backup). The second one I just don't understand. If I export an image that hasn't yet been edited in On1, I don't see any issues. I am on a Mac.

    Ray,

Apparently (and I have no proof of this) a release around 2019 created sidecars that give problems with 2022.5. A load of my images pre-2020 have edits but browse doesn’t see them and there is no edited badge. I export a lot of older images and if I miss the fact that there is no badge and attempt to export without editing something, ON1 either crashes or I get an error message 0 photos exported, there were 1 errors. Images created/edited post 2019 are fine.

I have reported this a while ago, but I don't really want to highjack this thread.

P.s. Moving folders around, touching the sidecar dates etc. has no effect.

Thanks for the clarification Gerry. I didn't start using On1 until 2021, so have not experienced what you've experienced. I hope Support have managed to duplicate your issue and then promised to look into it. That's certainly the case with something that I reported recently, which they confirmed was a bug.

Gerry, Did you do all of the upgrades between 2019 and 2022? I’m wondering if the changes to the database in each new version are what are catching you up if your images were not migrated through each of those versions.

    Brian,

I have been using ON1 since the beta (or was it alpha) of the effects plugin and have upgraded to every version since. I have worked through every possible scenario including resetting PR, even deleting every trace of ON1 using their powerscript and reinstalling, but I guess I will fall for it again, upgrade and hope that the bugs have been solved.

It was just a thought. Wish I had a solution for you.

Did you go through the manual uninstall procedure? The automated one leaves a lot behind. Here's a link from the company and even it is incomplete. I'm trying to find the procedure I wrote up that gets everything that the installer adds to your system.

    https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360053531111-How-to-Manually-Uninstall-ON1-apps

Mac or Windows? I've got my Windows script but not the Mac version which is odd since they were both on the same Notes page. Hmm…

  • Brian Lawson Community moderator

It took some searching through these forums but I found the missing Mac script. Here are both of them. This will remove everything that the installers add to your system so PR can run.

    ON1 Uninstall Manually

    WINDOWS

    1. Uninstall via the Add/Remove Programs
    2. Remove the C:\Program Files\ON1\ON1 Photo RAW 202x directory
    3. Remove the directories with "202x" in their names located in C:\ProgramData\ON1
    4. Remove the directories with "202x" in their names located in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\ON1
    5. Remove this directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\ON1 Photo RAW 202x.lrplugin
    6. Remove this directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\ON1 Resize 202x-suite.lrplugin
    7. Remove the 202x files in this directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\External Editor Presets
    8. Remove the 202x files in this directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC

    MACINTOSH

Delete the following folders and files:

    1. /Applications/ON1 Photo RAW 202x
    2. /Library/Application Support/ON1
    3. ~/Library/Application Support/ON1 — This is where all your user data is stored
    4. ~/Library/Preferences/com.ononesoftware.ON1xxxx202x.plist — There are 7 of theses
    5. /Library/Frameworks/ONxxxx.framework — There are 8 of these

    Brian,

I really appreciate your helping, but I have already been down that path. I removed every trace of ON1 using their script and Cclean. Not a sniff left before reinstalling. I really only posted my concern that all this new exciting stuff shouldn’t be at the cost of fixing the current bugs. If they are not fixed in the next release I think I will revert to 2022.0 with Topaz.

    Thanks anyway,

    Gerry.

    P.s. I am on Windows 11

I have used on1 for 4-5 years now and still have several old installs. One was uninstalled, but left a lot of older debris from an  incomplete install. I would like to uninstall all of the older stuff when 2023 installs Except I would like to keep 2021 as well , as it is the last version where I can call on1 as a plugin ( which I do increasingly rarely) as On1 is my central editor (I rarely fire up LR6 any more and often just reedit pics from that database).

Any thoughts how to get rid of what I want without screwing up the database?

    Steve
