R7 support was added with the last update to 2022.5 so it should be working for you. Try the Delete Settings procedure and if necessary the Reset Photo RAW 2022 command. The Reset does exactly that, the entire program is reset to a just installed state without touching your edits. Catalogs go away but not the edits.

If that doesn't fix the problem you'll have to talk to tech support.

I have the same issue,David are you using full RAW or the new canon C RAW?

Update I have completed the update and the issue still occurs, I have checked my older R7 files and it is only happening with the C-Raw files.

I have used both compressed and uncompressed. Canon must have changed something in the craw format for the R7.

Brian, I have not had any issues until a shoot I did today in which I used C-RAW as a test, issue if the number of files, and I have a job to complete and can't currently edit.

If I try and edit anything taken pre C-RAW everything works fine

You'll have to talk with support about this Neil. Like I said above, I've used both from my R5 so the R7 must be doing something different with the compressed files. The R5 compressed files are not being handled by Photo RAWs engine and are treated as a Tier 2 camera with the OS handling the decompression and demosaicing.

@Neil These were full Raw files. My R7 is still on order but these files were downloaded from a review of the R7 which I was using to see how well it worked. As they were in the public domain perhaps I could upload one to here or provide the download link?

The are likely too big to upload here (2mb max) but you could post the link.

Yes. Also probably best not to directly put link here to the zipped files for security. But this is the link to the You Tube video and the link to the zipped file is below the clip so people can get them from there. The files were .CR3 which I assume is the uncompressed ones. (I am currently shooting Nikon)

    Great answers

Not sure if it helps in the short term but I can open and edit the files from the YouTube on the current 2023 beta.

Both compressed and uncompressed files have the .cr3 extension. In Photo RAW you have to look at the file size to tell the difference.

So there are .CR3 files on the link as follows with max file size shown:-

    D90 .CR3     55mb

    R5.CR3         14mb

    R7.CR3          26mb

Not sure this helps but all I can say is first two load fine, R7 doesn't.

And, dare I say it - R7 loads ok on Topaz Denoise :-(   so file is ok.

According to Canon R7 files are approx 35mb raw, 15mb CRaw so looking like it is the latter and that is the problem.

On the latest 2023 beta on Mac I see thumbnails of all the images from all the cameras and have opened one from each in Develop. All working. I see a set of camera profiles which I believe means conversion being handled by PhotoRAW and not operating system, but can't be sure.

So you should be able to handle these files once 2023 is released. On1 normally release a final version of current PhotoRAW with final bug fixes and camera support updates, so it is possible that when 2022.6 comes out it will support these files if you are not planning to upgrade to 2023, 2022.6 (I guess that is what it will be called based on previous years) will be a free upgrade from 2022.5.

I do hope so. I wouldn't want a product I purchased a month a go to become obsolete a month later! I thought the major competitors constantly updated their file compatibility as new cameras came on the market.

David this is exactly were im now at, I tested the R7 and all the pieces I was looking for as a replacement for Lightroom after the trial period I have purchased ON1 and stop paying for Lightroom and now have uncovered an issue around C-RAW. Yes I can change the file type over the short term but not really what I would expect to have to do.

Do we know if On-1 Technical have been alerted to this and if they are working on a patch? That would at least give some piece of mind.

Incidentally Neil, what do you think of the R7? Mine is on order but they are very much in demand it seems.

Hi David, yes a have logged a case with support, the response was that they are aware of the issue with CRAW on the R7 and it's slated for a upcoming release. No date and no idea when. The R7 so far is performing above my expectations. I mainly shot inside sport (basketball) and it is my first step into the mirror less, I have 7Dmk2 very solid performer, the R7 had up side for me as batteries are cross compatible and as I have lots. I'm only a month in . Just a little frustrated at present as I did the migration from Lightroom and now to find that ON1 will not process the CRAW , annoying. Hope they fix it soon. Just an FYI I'm in Australia and you can get the R7 of the shelf.

Well I finally got my R7. And guess what - two months down the line and R7.cr3 files still  don't load. Extremely disappointed - and what's more I purchased a readily available R10 as a stop gap and the R10. CR3 files work fine. Surely this is an easy thing to fix. very, very disappointed in ON-1 having chosen it above Topaz and DXO.

Furthermore I have just uploaded On1 RAW 2023 and R7 CR3 raw files load fine so it can't be that hard to fix! Has there been an update to 2022.5(16.51.12526) ?

No. I don't know if there will be another 2022 update or not.

Well there should be. How can you have a product,2022 Raw that supports Canon R10 compressed raw, a product 2023 Raw that supports R7 compressed raw but 2022 Raw doesn't support R7 compressed raw??

It must be a 5 minute fix surely. I am getting really fed up about this. It gives me no confidence that On-1 is a professional company like its competitors which is a shame as I am generally happy with the product.

I don’t know why you would think it’s only a five minute fix. I guess you want fixes that go untested. 2022 is a dead program now. There’s no reason for the company to continue updating it.
