    It is what it is.

You can use a discount code and save a bit more. There is a code on Scotts video here...

Thanks that helps but was hoping someone from ON1 can shade a light as to why so?

There is no one from On1 in this forum. This is a user forum.

For a complete editing environment the $79 for upgrade from any version of PhotoRAW is much lower than for other software.

    - Year's maintenance for Topaz Denoise/Sharpen/Gigapixel $99

    - Upgrade to latest DxO Photolab and Nik Collection (similar range of facilities) - $178, and not available if version you are upgrading from is more than 2(?) behind

    - Upgrade DxO FilmPack - $79

On1 need income to continue to develop and maintain PhotoRAW, but if your current version works for you then skip a version.

Of course they need to make money to support new development. No questions, hence i buy the product and it is a good product. Price difference for new customer vs Loyal costimers is what is not fair.

So a 20% discount for current users on a very reasonably priced product is not fair? I would say it is, particularly when they also let you use another coupon for an additional $20 off. That's a total of a 40% discount. What on earth would you call fair???

I agree - On1 is a bargain so the delta between the list price for a new subscription and an upgrade doesn't bother me.  Also, with a list price of $79 for the upgrade, there's room for On1 to offer attractive discounts through folks like Scott Davenport and Jim Nix.  This incentivizes them to continue providing useful content for the On1 user community.

On a slightly related topic, I switched to the subscription model last September, primarily because it also includes the plugins.  At the time I used a discount code (I think it was from Scott Davenport) that gave me a 30% discount, making the annual subscription $63.  Interestingly, my subscription renewed automatically early this week at that same discounted price.  Not complaining at all, just wondering if that's normal.

It looks like my 2022 version will be my last, due to upgrade pricing. I'm all for progress and development, but I just can't keep up with annual upgrades and steadily climbing prices. Shame, really, as I didn't expect to end up being priced-out when I bought my first version back in 2018.

There is no reason that 2022 has to be your last. You can skip a year or two and still get upgrade prices in the future. PR 2024 will have everything 2023 has and more.

I clicked on the link from an email today and my "upgrade" price was £92.33! I bought 2022 as an upgrade and ever since the first release all updated versions of 2022 have claimed my Nikon RAW files are corrupt. So since I bought 2022 I've missed out on all the updates this year and still no fix. Why would I pay another £92.33 for software that hasn't worked for me for the best part of a year? I'm still using On1 2020 because I didn't upgrade to 2021 and 2022 doesn't work except for 2022.0 and I fear editing photos with 2022.0 because 2020 won't read the edits.

Why would I pay another £92.33 for software that hasn't worked for me for the best part of a year? You should talk with Kahlie in Customer Service. I can't promise she will do anything for you but it's a guarantee she won't if you don't and she might if you do.

You can get an update for 50% off the price paid to get your original ON1 software ($99) if you wait for a sale.  So you will pay about $49 instead of about $79 for the update. It just depends on how patient you are willing to be.  There are a fair number of different sales throughout the year.  Not all will give that higher discount.  So if money IS your issue you DO have a choice.

There are plenty of discount codes you can find on YouTube. Scott Davenport & Anthony Morganti come to mind.

I can't post the link or it goes into Pending Approval mode. You'll have to search for yourself, sorry.

What I want to know, will ON1 2023 noise reduction be as good or better than DXO Deep Prime ?

Has the Camera Profiles improved for Olympus users?

Will I be able to import Adobe .DCP files ?

That would be a judgement call you'll have to make for yourself. Once it has been released you can download it and run it in Trial mode to make the comparison.

DxO Photolab 6 has just been announced, existing customer upgrade is $99. Better discount from full price but that is $219 compared to PhotoRAWs $99, and you would still need something else like NIK for stylising, and that is $149 new.

The PhotoRAW 2023 upgrade offer may not be that much of a discount but the purchase price is much lower than trying to put together similar set of functions, including resizing etc, from other suppliers.

Photolab 6 is introducing DeepPrime XD which adds sharpening so it will be interesting to compare that with TackSharp and NoNoise, and as with all previous Prime technologies it only works on RAW files.

My whole point was price difference for loyal customer.

$219 to $ 99. that is 55% off for there customer. More like it.

$99 to 79.99 that is only 20%, feels like not appriciatred, even there are other 20 % coupons makes it 40%

You can get it for 40% off and are still complaining - wow you seem pretty entitled. How on earth do you expect a company to pay employees and keep improving their products if you are unwilling to pay for the product.
