In process of digitizing old family photos (negative, transparency & print) to create a digital archive to share with the family.
Environment - MacOS (Monterey v12.6) - Epson V600 scanner - SilverFast 9 SE+ software v9.1.4
As I go through images I'm annotating with known info, who's in the image, where taken, who took the pic, when etc. I'm adding this to the back of prints where possible.
My query is around annotating the digital copy, I want to check my understanding and see if there are any comments/suggestions/alternatives out there.
It seems that adding EXIF info through On1 adds the info via the On1 sidecar file (.on1) and that if the image and corresponding sidecar file are separated the EXIF data added through On1 is lost. In Adobe Bridge EXIF data added in On1 doesn't appear.
I've tried adding EXIF info through Adobe Bridge. When done this way Bridge 'appears' to be adding the info to the image file itself, It doesn't appear to create sidecar files. However the EXIF data does appear when the image is viewed in the browse module of On1.
Is my understanding here correct? And if so is there any way to copy the `EXIF data in the On1 sidecar file to the image file itself?
The objective here is make the image file useful to others who may well not have On1 and stop my efforts in adding this info from being wasted.
