Yes, and the answers are posted here. Search for '2023 nvidia' and you'll find them.

    Hello Richard,

I have the same issue than you. To update my graphic card drivers didn't fix the problem. I sent a message to the ON1 support, I hope they can identify and fix our problem. Feel free to contact them too ;)

Brian Lawson - I don't think the problem he is having is related to video drivers. He mentions an error related to IO with the disk.

Richard Wise - this should definitely be reported to ON1. You can do it from within PR - Help - Provide Feedback or https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I was having issues with 2023 crashing when I tried to edit a photo not related to a graphic card. My system doesn't use the Nvidia. After looking through files I noticed that there was no problem editing files previously edited in Raw 2022.5, they opened in raw 2023 without a problem.

The point is those previous files form raw 2022.5 had a .on1 sidecar file associated with it and any of my newer files that I tried to edit in 2023 didnt. So for now the work around that has been working for me is to first open a file in 2022.5 made a slight edit and then saving the edits to create the .on1 sidecar file and then opening in 2023 to continue. So far using this work around I no longer have issues with raw 2023 crashing

This may not work for everyone but give it a try and hopefully on1 will fix these issues soon.

having same issue than Frederick Piccarello  ..

But i'm only having that problem with .cr3 files (canon 90D).

cr2 , dng, jpg, no problem the all open without problem in edit mode.

If i open .cr3 file in raw 2022.5 , no problem to open and then make a small edit, close the file and re open in raw 2023 to edit without any problem.

but it's annoying to have to open the file twice ,, that doesnt speed up the workflow.

One more note. I was experimenting just now and found that if I import new files directly from my camera instead of using the software provided with my camera it creates a .xmp file when I select add metadata in the import dialog and I am able to edit the files in Raw 2023 without having to edit first in 2022.5

Again these are just some work arounds until on1 fixes the current issues.

Somehow this thread went way off the rails.

    This error...

The Event Viewer shows The IO operation at logical block address 0x796000 for Disk 4 (PDO name: \Device\0000006d) was retried.

is a hardware error and has nothing to do with Photo Raw. Really, if it's consistent, you need a Computer tech to check it out. There apparently are a lot of possible reasons for it. This is just one page that I found listing some of the possibilities...

Well then the heading of the thread "0n1 PR 2023 crashes when editing" should be corrected to indicate its referring to hardware issues. There seems to be many reasons why PR2023 crashes

I have the same problem with On1 Raw 2023 crashing when opening Jpeg photo to edit. I have no problem with On1 Raw 2022 editing the same Jpeg photo. I hope a program update will solve this problem soon. I paid for this software but I can not use it!

Exactly the same problem with my surfacebook .
Open a raw file in raw 2023 and the program just disappears. If i edit the file in eaw 2022.5 first, save it, and then open in raw 2023 it works just fine,
I raised an incident, and was advised to install the latest nvidia drivers. Done that and no change to the behaviour.
Raw 2023 is configured to use the nvidia adapter .

Sent in a diagnostic collection .
    Waiting for a response.

The software is unusable currently . Paid the price of the upgrade , and got nothing useable for it.

I am very disappointed that On1 Photo Raw technical staff has not come up with a fix or solution to the edit crashing with 2023 version. I paid good money for the software but it is not useable.

A helpful user suggested disabling the NVIDIA graphic card in the device manager and then turning it back on. I tried it and ON1 2023 seems to be working.

    Richard Wise

Thanks for the tip but that didn't work for me.
