Grid mode Trouble

When I am viewing and image and want to go back to grid mode, I press "g" and goes back to grid mode but moves back up to the first image in the folder.  Anyway to work around this?

  Which version of which program are you running? This was a problem but I haven't seen it happen in more than a year now.

  No, there is now work around.
