Perhaps Roy has done what I have done occasionally by inadvertently clicking on the Resize etc. icons when trying to click on the scroll bar, on my 21” screen the scroll bars are only 2mm wide.

Myrna I am on windows but I assume that a Mac is the same, right click on the top most folder of your photos ( mine is called Pictures) and Show Subfolders is an menu item
