I uninstalled and reinstalled PR 2023 as well, but the crashes persisted. I wonder if I missed some files the uninstallers don't touch.

Same here and I can't figure out what in a photo is causing it. Probably jpg files, but like Robert Becker some work and some don't. I uninstalled, reinstalled, then rebuilt the catalog.
