Discover the Power of Cloud Sync: Seamlessly Sync and Access Across Devices
Welcome to the world of Cloud Sync, our innovative storage solution designed to seamlessly synchronize your photos, edits, albums, and presets between ON1 Photo RAW on both desktop and mobile platforms. To get you up and running quickly, we have put together these steps for getting started.
Introduction to Cloud Sync
ON1 Cloud Sync is an end-to-end photography workflow solution for capturing, editing, and accessing photos seamlessly between multiple computers and mobile devices using ON1 Photo RAW and ON1 Photo RAW for Mobile.
Cloud Sync combines ON1 Photo RAW for powerful organizing, raw processing, efforts, and layered non-destructive workflow on Windows and macOS, with ON1 Photo Mobile on iOS and Android for capture, editing, and sharing. The Cloud Sync service synchronizes your photos, including their metadata, versions, and edits across all your devices, without having to store your original photos in the cloud.
-
Getting Started — To take advantage of Cloud Sync, you need at least two supported devices with internet connections. That could be as simple as a desktop and laptop computer with ON1 Photo RAW installed, or a computer using ON1 Photo RAW and a phone using ON1 Photo RAW for mobile.
-
What can it do for me? — Cloud Sync gives you access to your photos from anywhere. You can view, edit and share them no matter which device they live on. For example, photos that live on your desktop computer can be viewed and edited on your laptop or tablet. Or photos you shoot on your phone can be viewed and edited on your computers and other devices. You control how your photos are organized. If you like the folders on your computer, that’s the way you can view them on other devices. You also control which photos are available on other devices, it's not all or nothing.
-
How does it work? — At the heart of ON1 Cloud Sync is its sync service. It keeps track of which photos you want to make available to your other devices, where they live, their metadata, and non-destructive editing settings. It also creates a temporary version of the photo, similar to a compressed raw file, that is stored in the cloud. These compressed raw files maintain all the tone and color of the original file while using about ¼ of the cloud storage space. When you view and edit on another device, it is this compressed raw file that is quickly streamed to it, so you can edit just like you had the raw file on it. These compressed raw files are perfect for viewing, editing, sharing, and even printing common sizes.
-
What happens to my original photo files? — Your original photo files stay put, right where you keep them. Your original photos can live on any of your devices, including external hard drives and file servers. You can choose to upload copies of your original photos to ON1 Photo RAW as well if you need to access the full, original file remotely.
-
How many photos will Cloud Sync be capable of storing? — The 200GB plan is enough storage for photo collections of 35K ON1 Compressed Raw Files, 20K JPG files, and 5K raw files. The 1 TB plan is enough storage for photo collections of 175K ON1 Compressed Raw Files, 100K JPG files, and 25K raw files.
Start Publishing
Now it’s time to publish something. ON1 Cloud Sync supports publishing cataloged folders and albums. Let’s do a test to get started. Create a new album and select the Publish to ON1 Cloud Sync option. Then add some photos to it. If you already have an album you want to publish, just right-click and select Publish to ON1 Cloud Sync. In the background, ON1 Photo RAW is now preparing editable previews for the photos in the album and uploading them to the ON1 Cloud Sync servers along with their metadata. You can watch the progress by clicking on the ON Cloud Sync icon in the bottom left corner of your ON1 Photo RAW application window. The speed of publishing is impacted by many factors; the size of the original photos, the speed of your computer, and internet upload speed. A modest album of twenty photos should be done in a few minutes. Note: If you choose to publish thousands of photos, it will take several hours. Tens of thousands could take a day or more.
